Purple By Polina Grishko
This short film is inspired by a local "true" story in a town in Siberia, Russia. While the truth over the mysterious disappearance of the woman was never discovered, this familiar story is what I found intriguing and incredibly human. Regardless of border and miles between people, our societies have similar stories that are driven by human emotion - such as selfishness in this case. Thomas Hobbes, a renowned philosopher, claimed that humans are inherently selfish, and I find that idea incredibly thought worthy. This film’s story grapples with that idea of selfishness, human morals, and what we perceive as love, and I want people to grapple with their own selves too.
The Shooting at Rattler’s Ridge ByStone Sharp
The Shooting at Rattler’s Ridge is a short film about a cowboy named Filicer who uses a 1920s camera to capture some evidence on an illegal Moonshine operation. The story takes off when an unexpected event happens. Now Flicker has to save his life while pursuing his detective work.
Zoom University By Mia Gamberale
This is a documentary exploring the unprecedented experiences and emotional trails of students thrusted into online learning due to COVID-19. After COVID-19 proved that it wasn’t just a fleeting fear, students realized that they would be entrenched in online learning and quarantine life for much longer than they thought. In this documentary film, five students share their feelings of isolation, anxiety, fear, and emotional exhaustion. Though all testimonies follow a similar thread, each student experiences individual struggles and unique strategies to stay hopeful.
Partisan By Polina Grishko
Escaping from the battlefield, a wounded partisan finds himself a quiet end alone in the forest. But before he departs from life, he accepts a final chance to say goodbye to the most important person to him - his mother. Upon hearing the Russian song “Partisan” by Basta, I was incredibly interested in learning more about these unrecognized heroes who have been lost in history. In my research, I discovered a widely-known but unattributed poem of the Soviet partisan. Struck by grief for the fallen and anger over the injustice for the living, I made a promise to myself to tell this partisan’s story and help educate people over the heroics of World War II partisans.
Meanwhile on the West Coast By Katie Romanovich
The story follows two young women - Jenna and Brianna. In a parallel timeline of events, we see each of them deal with their own life challenges - an abusive relationship and
substance abuse/anxiety/depression respectively. The film leads to their breaking points which
lead them to make important and tough decisions.

Short Love By Joshua Cabrera
This short film portrays a picture of relationship challenges caused by
misinterpretations. The events’ internalization can cause misunderstanding, create distance between people, and ruin their relationships. My original plan was to portray love and happiness as the core theme in this film, but the story evolved and the subject changed by the time we reached the filming stage. It was in the editing room that the story took its final shape. It was also in the editing room we realized that we needed more shots to tell the story. As a learning process, it was a good experience.

The Relief By Omar Melendes
The Relief tells the story of a young widowed man who struggles to let go of his late wife’s memories. The only way to overcome the pain of loss is to spread her ashes in the ocean and make peace with the loss. Sometimes it is difficult to release ourselves from our most immense pain or situation, but life becomes a new opportunity when we do.
Transposition By Veronika Mikulasek
Eleanor Woods is accused of adultery and tries to escape the consequences when an escape finds her in the form of time travel. Another age brings about a different outcome to her situation. But did she really travel in time, or was it just her consciousness or spirit traveling into another world or dimension? As times change, situations change too. This film’s goal is to present how the results or consequences of situations can transform depending on what era or decade they occur. What we hold to be a virtue today may turn to vice as times change or vice versa. I wanted to create a film that illustrated this continuous cycle of changing norms. I aimed to show how dramatically a situation can change with the addition of several decades. I also sprinkled in mystery elements that give rise to questions of where exactly did Eleanor go or did she not go.
Unwashed By Jeremy Camba
In this short film, a strange smell raises the curiosity of a laid-back boy who launches into a search to detect the source of it. In this detective effort, he finds the source of the smell - a dirty shirt that comes to life, attacks, and chases him from room to room. To defeat this persistent villain and overcome the situation, the boy decides to use his only weapon; the air freshener can.
Skin By Madison James
The media and beauty industry have led society to believe that a body that does not look like what we see on screen is not beautiful. Fat bodies are attacked by their owners and the world around them, yet deserve just as much respect and love as any other body. “Skin,” a short abstract film, portrays the violence toward the body that does not deserve such treatment and an owner who does not accept the negativity. She chooses to love herself and everything that her body is. Bodies are not ugly. Fatphobia is.
